Picking Pet Names For Your Boyfriends
'Schnookums' Isn't For Everyone You've got the perfect boyfriend. He's a darling and a gentleman. But you're a little at a loss what to call him when you're feeling affectionate. Or should you have several? One for sweet moments, one for frisky business and one for public consumption? It can feel awkward if you don't choose well. You might make him uncomfortable or even embarrassed. You want to get it just right. Make sure you add a flavor of naughtiness and sweetness in doing so. Some helpful tips can be obtained from Bob Grants "The Woman Men Adore...and Never Want to Leave" Here's a list of the most common or most popular: For the public eye or normal occasions, pet names that can be swapped back and forth between girlfriend and boyfriend are: Honey, Sweetheart, Sweetie, Sweets, Sweet Cheeks and Baby. These are handy since they can be used in front of anyone, at any time, without alienating the people you're with. And you're also not turning him as red as a stoplight. For the bedroom/private moments: Cowboy, Handsome, Tiger, Stud, Ace were all up there for favorites. These nicknames are designed to make the man, well, feel manly, sexy and attractive. Most men when hearing the name Tiger or Stud invisibly puffs up. Some of them even make the animal sounds. It can be great fun...as long as he likes it. For cozy moments, just between the two of you, there are so many variations. You can shorten his name, or add to it. Theodore could become Teddy Bear, to give a very basic stab at creativity. Or maybe there's an actor or a film/book character he reminds you of? There are more than one Honey Bunny's running around lifted from the film Pulp Fiction. Be sure to watch his reaction, though. He might really not like the name, thinking Georgie-kins isn't the most adorable title to be saddled with. And he might be too polite to tell you at first. Keep an eye out for grimaces, shrugs, eye-rolls and long-suffering sighs. Or just ask him if he minds. Pet names are as versatile as relationships are. They can be chosen carefully or spontaneously, over some private joke you share. It's a sign of intimacy and affection to use pet names. A few warnings, though- don't overkill the name, using it every chance you get. And don't adopt pet names friends or family has given. You don't really want him to think of his mother each time you say it, do you.
